Abbey Parts

The Abbey has a 12" High Performance woofer and a 12" waveguide and the same 1" compression driver as the Summa.   Not nearly as big or as expensive as the Summa, the Abbey is none the less a very competent performer.

Below are shown two data plots in 1/10 octave resolution.  These are for the horizontal polar responses. On the left is a polar map which shows sound levels as a contour map in 3 dB increments. The vertical axis represents the angle in degrees and the horizontal axis represents frequency in hertz. These plots may seem new since almost no one in this industry would dare to show this level of detailed data.  There is a reason for that!

The Abbey's admirable performance is shown below.  The smaller waveguide does not control as well as the larger 15" unit, resulting in a small hole in the response directly on axis. The recommended listening position is off-axis, which means the on-axis hole is simply not a problem.

Size: 29" x 15" x 12"

Speaker Compliment: B&C 12TBX100 & DE250-8

Sensitivity: 95 dB / 2.83 volt / 1 m (0 dB on the curves below)

Impedance: 8 Ohms above 100 Hz.

The Abbey is available as a kit or fully assembled and tested  The Abbey pictured to the left is in a proprietary Geddes satin black.

- Although the stock enclosure is already very solid and inert, with internal Oak cross bracing and Constrained Layer Damping (CLD) front baffle and rear panel, the builder who seeks perfection may be interested in an available add-on package that provides extra Oak reinforcement and CLD on all panels.
